EPICENTER 2018: FaZe Clan Rose To The Top, Wins RM624,975

By Intan Mawarni | November 5, 2018

FaZe Clan bounced back to emerge as Champions of EPICENTER 2018 and its USD 295,000 (RM1,229,117) prize pool after some disappointing finishes in their last four tournaments. Who would’ve expected that after average results in the Group Stages, that FaZe Clan would come out guns blazing?

The all-star European team took home USD 150,000 (RM624,975) after an impressive showing in the playoffs, where they 2-0’d Ninjas in Pajamas, Team Liquid, and runners-up Natus Vincere who took home a tidy USD 75,000 (RM312,487).

In the Grand Final, FaZe Clan was on point on their pick Mirage, ending the first map 16-12. Hoping to force a third game, Natus Vincere tried their hardest but just couldn’t keep up with FaZe Clan’s intensity as they were handed a complete and crushing 16-3 defeat on the second map, Dust 2.

If anything, that final match might have ended up being a clean sweep if it wasn’t for Natus Vincere’s Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev doing whatever he could. You could watch the thrilling highlights from the match between FaZe and NaVi here:

This fantastic turnaround from FaZe Clan is most likely attributed to the relatively recent swapping of in-game leaders. With Nikola “NiKo” Kovač at the helm, hopefully, things will continue to look up for the team – especially with the fact that Olof “olofmeister“ Kajbjer is seemingly back on track after not only being sidelined for months by injury but also not being on form since his return.

Here’s to hoping that this was not a one-off thing and that FaZe clan is truly back in the lead-up to the upcoming BLAST Pro Series: Copenhagen 2018.
