Level Up KL 2017: Virtual Reality – Not Just For Gaming But Medical Too

By Editorial team | November 9, 2017

“VR is for everyone! Not just for gamers but all industries!” claims Mr. WeiGing Ngang, Development Community Lead, APAC for HTC Vive.

That’s a bold statement to make but the knowledgeable speaker from Taiwan goes on to show the crowd at Level Up KL 2017 just what he means.

“Doctors are now using VR tools to practice complicated surgeries and procedures”.

Which is a brilliant move seeing as you can’t “practice” on human beings. The  tool allows surgeons to interact with virtual “flesh and bone” in simulated theatre environments.

VR has been one of the hottest topics since 2016 and it has revolutionized the way we approach sectors like education, entertainment, gaming, design, retail, consumption patterns, social experiences and so much more.

Mr. WeiGing Ngang is responsible for the VR Eco-system in Asia Pacific and is a strong believer in HTC’s Vive and he isn’t the only one. Tech wizards gizmodo.com has this to say;

“The HTC Vive is the most advanced VR system ever sold. Its headset is ridiculously powerful, so you can look around in all directions without a hitch. Its wireless controllers make it easy to interact with objects in the virtual world. Even cooler than all that, the Vive lets you walk around in the experience—which sets it apart from every other VR headset ever made.”
